Kota Kinabalu: Job seekers, especially graduates, in Sabah did not miss the opportunity to attend the Jamin Kerja Keluarga Malaysia Carnival, organised in conjunction with the Sabah-level Aspirasi Keluarga Malaysia (AKM) tour, here.
There are some of them who were willing to travel from their hometowns such as Beluran and Keningau with a dream of getting a job to build a better life for themselves and their families.
Nlyntika Agustine, 24, from Keningau, said her passion to build a career motivated her to attend the career carnival and she took full advantage of the opportunity to submit job applications to three companies.
The Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Bachelor in Finance degree holder said she travelled alone to Kota Kinabalu to attend the career fair.
“I’m very much looking forward to attending the carnival because it provides graduates like me the opportunity to find jobs. I do not mind whatever positions are offered as long as I get a job,” she said when met after attending the interview session at the carnival, Friday.
Sharing her experience of attending the interview, Nlyntika said she was nervous but excited at the same time to be able to go through the session smoothly, and she was optimistic about getting a favourable result.
Another job seeker, Khairul Izham Jamri, 26, from Beluran, said he did not want to miss the opportunity to attend the carnival after finding out about it on Tuesday.
“I want to try (sending in job applications) to see if I am successful in securing employment.
“This is a very good programme especially when it is difficult to find jobs nowadays,” said the Universiti Malaysia Sabah history graduate.
The same sentiment was shared by Harmika Hasim, 25, who said the carnival provided the best platform for graduates to find jobs as its gathered employers from different sectors under one roof.
Social Security Organisation (Socso) employment services officer, Joewell David, said a total of 39 employers participated in the carnival which is being held till Sunday.
The fair offers more than 1,000 job opportunities in various fields. Sabah is the third destination for the AKM tour, which was inspired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, after the first was held in Johor and the second in Perlis.
