Kota Kinabalu: A family of three was left homeless after a fire destroyed their apartment in Block C, Taman Nelly, Kolombong, Thursday afternoon.
Several firefighters along with fire engines rushed to the scene upon receiving a distress call at 4.34pm about the fire on the third floor.
The family managed to flee to safety in time, but a woman in her 50s experienced difficulties in breathing.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Department, the woman was sent to hospital for treatment.
The fire was brought under control at 4.54pm and the operation ended at 5.57pm.
The cause of the fire and loss are still under investigation.
Kapitan Inanam Chung Yu Leong was also at the scene to assist the affected residents and the firefighters.
