BEAUFORT: Two houses in Kg Selagon Bukit were destroyed in a fire on Wednesday, said district’s Fire and Rescue Station Chief Mohammad Hasbullah Nenggok.

He said that the incident occurred at 12.28pm and that two machines were rushed to the scene as soon as they received the distressed call. “Due to lack of water supply, the fire and rescue team had to use water from the machinery pump until the fire was completely extinguished.

“In addition to the property, a car and several bicycles were also destroyed, while the cause of fire and estimated loss is being investigated,” he said. According to Mohd Hasbullah, at 7pm, a call requesting assistance in destroying a beehive at the Sports Complex was received.

“The beehive was found on a grandstand and the operation to destroy the hives was carried out using insecticide,” he said.
