Kota Kinabalu: City Hall (DBKK) is conducting a catch-and-control of stray dogs according to the standard operating procedure (SOP) under the Dog Registration and Control By-Laws (Amendment) 2008.Mayor Datuk Noorliza Awang Alip said the SOP, in line with the Animal Welfare Enactment 2015, was also presented to the Sabah Veterinary Services Department (DVS) on May 17.
She said the Animal Control Unit under the DBKK’s City Environmental Health Department works to ensure that public areas are free from stray dogs and stray pet dogs, adding the unit received a total of 617 dog-related complaints in 2021 and 263 complaints this year as of May 23.
