Kopeks pays RM487,700 under schemes
Jaibit handing over a cheque to Saleha Rini, a beneficiary representative of the Mutual Benevolent scheme.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Government Employees Cooperative Society Berhad (Kopeks) paid RM487,700 under its Mutual Benevolent and Personal Accident Coverage schemes to 237 members as of April this year.The Mutual Benevolent scheme provides RM4,000 for each member, while for the Personal Accident Coverage scheme, RM12,000 each.

Its Chairman Jaibit Jaudin said Kopeks, which was established in 1963, always emphasised the importance of welfare of its members.

Jaibit, who is also Deputy Director of the Malaysian Cooperative Institute (IKMa) Sabah, said this at the handing over of Mutual Benevolent Fund (TKK) scheme cheques to the next-of-kin of members and also retirement cheques to retired members at Kopeks office, here.

Kopeks had recorded a profit every year since 2009 and paid dividends every year for the past 10 years, he said, adding in 2019 and 2020,  Kopeks has declared a dividend of 12 per cent which is 1 per cent on fees and 11 per cent on shares to members.

Besides that, Kopeks members also have easy borrowing facilities.

Jaibit said each member also gets a contribution for financing the education of their children who achieved excellent result in Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Pentaksiran Tingkatan 3 (PT3) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations under the Education Incentive scheme.

Therefore, he urged those civil servants in Sabah who have yet to join Kopeks to do so to enjoy all these benefits. He also reminded members to settle their respective loans and encouraged them to contribute to Kopeks shares to ensure they continue to enjoy the welfare benefits.
