Drugs: 7 penalised
Kota Kinabalu: Seven people were penalised by the Magistrate’s Court, here, Wednesday for committing drug-related offences.

Asman Karim, Hafizan Bahar, Faizal Ibrahim, Lee An Leong and Norshafira Abdullah pleaded guilty separately before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to having syabu weighing between 1.6gm and 0.09gm.

They had committed the offence at separate locations here between March 9 and April 11 this year.

Asman was sentenced to 16 months jail, Hafizan was fined RM3,000 or 20 months jail, Faizal was fined RM2,500 or 12 months jail while Lee and Norshafira were handed eight months jail each.

They were charged under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both on conviction.

Meanwhile, Faizal, Adrian Chok and Azizi Jidi admitted to taking syabu.

Faizal and Chok were each fined RM2,200 or six months jail each while Azizi was fined RM2,400 or seven months jail.

Taking drugs under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drug Act provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years jail, on conviction.

In another case, a 25-year-old man was charged with disposing of a stolen router.

Ahmad Aiddilizan Roslan pleaded not guilty to disposing of the stolen networking device belonging to ACFM Engineering and Construction Sdn Bhd at 7.30pm on May 20 at a house at PPR Gayang Ria, Jalan Sulaman, Tuaran.

The charge under Section 414 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fined or both on conviction.

The court fixed July 19 for case management and released Ahmad on a bail of RM1,200 in two sureties.
