Kota Kinabalu: A family of six escaped unscathed when fire razed their two-storey house at Kg Likas, here, Thursday.

The fire is believed to have happened at about 9.20am. “My 66-year-old mother was home with my children when the fire broke out on the upper level of our house,” said house owner.  She said they have lived in the six-bedroom house since the 1970s. “My mother and children escaped the flames after noticing smoke coming from the upper floor,” she said. Meanwhile, her husband, Chris, said he had just sent his son to Penampang and was heading home to Kg Likas when he got a call from his wife alerting him on the fire.
