Kota Kinabalu: The 7th International Dragon Boat Race will take place at Likas Bay from July 1-3.

Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) President, Tan Sri TC Goh said although the number of foreign teams had decreased due to the constraints of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in their respective countries, he called on Sabahans to continue to support and enliven the competition.

After paying a courtesy call on the Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at Istana Seri Kinabalu on Wednesday, Goh said the participation of international teams is expected to decrease due to the Covid-19 pandemic that occurred in their respective countries.

“Although the registration for this competition has not yet closed, the participation from other countries is still lacking due to the constraints of the SOP in their respective countries.

Cosmobeauté Malaysia and beautyexpo will expand into East Malaysia with the launch of the Cosmobeauté Malaysia Borneo Festival 2026 at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) from May 25 to 26.
“This is because there are many more countries that are not yet open or there are many restrictions so it may not be very suitable for their team to come.

“Some countries like China still practise quarantine for 28 days so it may not be very appropriate for their team to participate in this competition,” he said.

Goh said the annual event organised by the FCAS received very encouraging local participation.

“I am thankful that this year the competition can be held after two years of not being able to host this competition due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The participants who took part in this competition also consisted of bumiputera.

“The participation from local teams from all over the country is very encouraging. It is expected that more than 100 teams will participate after two years of not being able to hold the competition,” he said.
