Sabah eyes LNG export to Philippines

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Adzmir Abdul Rahman said Sabah aims to export Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to the Philippines which is in need of such cleaner energy resources for economic growth.

This LNG-related business potential in regional distribution can be realised via marine routed LNG ISO tankers to the Philippines and nearby Indonesian archipelagos.

Adzmir who is also SEC’s Head of Business Development revealed this in his presentation: “Future of Liquefied Natural Gas in Sabah” at the 9th Sabah Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition 2022 at the Sabah International Convention Centre.

“Gas infrastructure needs to be in place to grow demand for gas for industries,” he said on the way forward for Sabah as the state has sufficiently large natural gas resources to potentially be monetised via LNG. SEC’s virtual pipeline system (VPS) for LNG distribution helps to spur development of key industries.
