Kota Kinabalu: A plan is in the works to establish a Sabah health and wellness tourism council to market the state as a medical tourism destination.
Its pro-tem committee led by Dr Anil Kumar met Monday with the Assistant Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Environment, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, to discuss the formation of the council.
They also invited Joniston, who chairs the Sabah Tourism Board, to be their advisor.
Dr Anil, who is managing director of the medical group, Medisinar, said the council acts as a one-stop centre for all matters related to the health paradigm.
“The council aims to provide impetus and focus to place Sabah's health and wellness tourism on the world stage," he said in a statement.
