Priest charged with molesting, raping teen

PETALING JAYA: A priest was today charged at the sessions court in Raub with 17 counts of molesting and raping a teenager.

Kok Chaw Fatt, 64, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges under Section 14 (d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 and Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code, Sinar Harian reported.

According to the charge sheet, Kok was alleged to have molested a 17-year-old girl at a church in Bentong in 2019.

He was also charged with committing the same offence at a house in Taman Anggerik Heights, in Bentong in May 2020.

For the third charge, Kok was accused of molesting the victim in June 2020, where he also performed oral sex on her at a house in Taman Shahbandar Heights, in Bentong.

For the remaining charges, Kok was accused of raping the victim between January and June 2021, and between January and February this year.

He was charged with committing the offence at a house in Taman Shahbandar Heights, in Bentong.

Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya set bail at RM2,500 for each charge and ordered Kok to report once a month to the nearest police station.

Kok was also ordered to hand over his passport and refrain from contacting the victim.

Faizadh set August 4 for re-mention.

Separately, the victim’s 54-year-old mother was also charged with ill-treatment, neglect, abandonment or exposure of children under Section 31 (1) of the Child Act 2001.

She pleaded not guilty to the charge before the same judge, Astro Awani reported.

Deputy public prosecutor Anisah Pisol appeared for the prosecution, while Kok was represented by Lee Tee Kiat.
