Kota Kinabalu: After nearly two months, Sabah’s Covid-19 caseload breached the 100 mark with 115 cases on Friday from 99 the day earlier, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun. The last time Sabah recorded three-digit figures was on April 22 with 149 cases.
Masidi said there was an upward trend of new infections in districts that previously recorded zero cases.
“Putatan, which did not record any infections on Thursday, recorded 12 new cases.
“Similarly, Tenom, Tambunan, Tawau, Kota Marudu and Lahad Datu have been excluded from the ‘infection-free’ group, with a marginal number of new cases.
“Tuaran which only recorded one case on Thursday recorded eight new cases on Friday. Beaufort’s cases also went up to eight from two cases the day before,” he said in a statement, Friday, adding no deaths or new clusters were identified.
Masidi said Kota Kinabalu’s cases decreased by 11 to 41 cases on Friday. However, it is still the top contributor to the caseload.
“A total of 12 districts recorded at least one infection, which decreased the number of infection-free districts from 15 the day before to 12 on Friday,” he said.
He said 112 out of 115 cases were category one and two infections, while one case was each recorded in category three, four and five. 68.7 per cent of cases were sporadic.
