Kota Kinabalu: Tabs Safa Bandaraya’s girls are hoping to get past the first round against their male counterparts in the Under-17 category of the Suparimau League - a national grassroots football tournament  scheduled to start this morning (Saturday).

Former Rhinos Suharmin Yusuf, who is assisting Hafifah Mohaidil in coaching the team, said the girls are capable of upsetting some of the boys’ teams in the competition.

“These girls are from 11 to 17-year-old and we only had two weeks of training in preparation for the competition.

“They have shown their potential despite the limited time and this will be an opportunity for them to get valuable exposure.
