Kota Kinabalu: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has demonstrated itself as a party that is capable of adjusting to the various shifts that occur in the political climate and remain effective and relevant.
Its Secretary-General Datuk Joniston Bangkuai said the party has endured the test of time without undergoing a rebranding process despite the fact that it has been around for 37 years.
“The name PBS stands on its own. It’s a distinct brand we can be proud of, and we should be.
“Rather, what matters is that the party revitalises itself in light of the current situation and that all members fully comprehend the party’s struggle so that we can react with facts to any criticisms levelled against us,” he said.
Joniston said this when speaking at the party’s “Program Jelajah Penerangan Parti Bersatu Sabah”, here, Thursday. Also present was PBS Information Chief Datuk Julita Majungki.
At the same time, Joniston urged all members to have a sense of pride in belonging to the party, saying PBS is on the right course.
He said only through a sense of ownership do members feel truly responsible for defending their party and leadership.
“It is also important for us to re-energise ourselves to be more aggressive, especially on social media. We should go on the onslaught and not be defensive.
“As members, we must also have the courage to speak up and give constructive remarks to the leadership if there are any faults or flaws.
“In the meantime, the party leadership must also be open to receiving criticism from members. This is the reform that the party requires so that we can all work together to further elevate the strength of PBS,” he said.
