Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka steps up efforts to foster love for national language
Kota Kinabalu: Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) Sabah will intensify their campaign in an effort to foster interest in reading and love for the national language through the Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan (DMK) and Dekad Bahasa Kebangsaan (DBK) programmes.

DBP Sabah Director Aminah Awang Basar (pic) said through the Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan (DMK) and Dekad Bahasa Kebangsaan (DBK) programmes, various intellectual activities will be held to further inculcate the reading culture and enhance the love for the national language among the community.

 “A variety of programmes are lined up for the Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan (DMK) Programme which include the Children’s Novel Writing Competition, Reading Corner Competition, Scrapbook Competition and Book Donation Programme.

 “For the Dekad Bahasa Kebangsaan (DBK) Programme, activities offered are aimed at fostering intellectual culture through the national language, such as the Bahasa Jiwa Bangsa Tour Competition, Poetry Photography Challenge, and Drawing and Colouring Competition.

 “All programmes will be held throughout the year beginning June this year,” Aminah said this while chairing the Main Committee’s first meeting for the Dekad Membaca Kebangsaan (DMK) and Dekad Bahasa Kebangsaan (DBK), Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan 2022 programme, at DBP Sabah on Thursday.

Sabah State Secretary’s Office, Sabah Federal Secretary’s Office, Sabah State Education Department, Labuan Corporation, Sabah Foundation, Sabah Parks, Sabah Area Broadcasting Department, Sabah Information Department, Women and Children’s Hospital, and Ranau District Office, are among collaborating agencies involved in organising the events.
