PUTATAN: The public are urged to continue supporting blood donation campaigns to help the Health Ministry through the Blood Fund Unit of the Pathology Department, Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).
“We are all aware that the blood supply in hospitals is always insufficient due to the increasing need, said Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk Shahelmey Yahya.
“Therefore, we call on those public members who are healthy, especially the youth to come forward to donate blood during the campaigns because it is also good for health, as well as to help those in need,” he said when met at the Blood Donation Campaign organised by Malaysia Red Crescent (MRC) Putatan here, recently.
Meanwhile, Putatan MRC Chairperson Nanih Abah said a total of 47 pints of blood were collected from 65 donors who registered for the programme which started from 10 am to 4 pm.
“The blood donation campaign this time involves 13 MRC Putatan officers and 10 staff of the Blood Bank Unit, QEH II, led by Dr Ong Soh Ying,” said Nanih.
Putatan District Officer, Haryani Anah Abdul Kahar, Putatan District Council members, Jeffery Nor Mohamed and Azmi Ahmad, were also present.
Throughout the campaign, visitors were also entertained by busker Affandi Murshidi of The Headhunters Group.
