Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is now home to Malaysia’s first exclusive single-origin organic chocolate – a product resulting from organic cocoa plant research conducted locally in Madai, Kunak.

Officially launched Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Datuk Willie Anak Mongin (pic) said it was a new leap for the country’s cocoa industry.
“All this while, we have never produced organic cocoa beans. This is the best achievement by the Malaysian Cocoa Board (LKM), and I urge for more quality cocoa production that can increase the quality and competitiveness of our cocoa industry,” he told a press conference after launching the 2022 National Cocoa Seminar at The Magellan Sutera, Wednesday.
