Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old man was charged with causing hurt to a woman while robbing her.
However, M.Sharif Shakhandar Benjamin pleaded not guilty before Sessions Court Judge Azreena Aziz, to the charge against him on Thursday.
He is accused of causing hurt to one Petronelia Baru, 21, by using a screwdriver while robbing her at 4.35am on May 28 this year at the Kedai Serbaneka Orange in Jalan Pantai, here.
M.Sharif allegedly committed the offence together with an accomplice still at large.
The offence under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to 20 years, and whipping, on conviction.
The court set Aug 8 for case management and March 8 next year for hearing of the case.
Pending the date, M.Sharif was ordered to be remanded further.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Adibah Saiful appeared for the prosecution while M.Sharif was not represented.
