12 finalists for Miss Sabah Tourism 2022

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 12 finalists will be vying for the Miss Sabah Tourism (MST) 2022 title in the grand finals to be held on Aug 13.MST State Director Xandria Ban said the 12 beauties were selected out of 35 submissions from all over Sabah.

The winner of the pageant will walk away with prizes worth about RM30,000. The top two will represent Sabah in the Miss Malaysia Tourism Pageant 2022 national grand finals later in October.
“All finalists will be required to be active on their own social media and conduct live streams or short videos.
“This is because public speaking and exposing one’s self on social media is an important element to groom finalists into being a being a better version of themselves and also to be Sabah’s spokesperson and tourism ambassador,”
She told a press conference at a hotel here, Saturday, adding that finalists will also undergo training for the catwalk, grooming, public speaking and skincare by profession experts.

“MST 2022 is looking for the top 2 winners with qualities of being knowledgeable, committed, talented, and graceful, has strong work ethics and is confidently beautiful.
“Six distinguished judges will narrow down the 12 finalists to the top five,” she said, adding that the top three winners will then be selected.

She said the five finalists will participate in a talent round to be in the running to win several subsidiary titles, namely ‘Best in Talent Award’, ‘Miss Online Personality’, Miss Beautifully Confident’ and the coveted ‘Miss Photogenic’.
Xandria, was also the Miss Malaysia Tourism 2015 title holder, said the MST pageant aims to provide a platform for young ladies from Sabah to be empowered and promote Sabah tourism to a wider audience.
The pageant will also be collaborating with an online personality who goes by the moniker ‘Miao in Sabah’, to promote Sabah to audiences in China on social media and highlight the State’s tourism gems.
“MST is not merely about beauty as the pageant has always been about promoting tourism, culture and friendship,” she said.

The MST 2022 Platinum sponsor is FM by Falida (TESLA), which is the first independent dealer to retail imported Tesla models in Kota Kinabalu, while the Stanton Hotel by TCT Group is the official hotel sponsor and Jesselton Group being the official presenter for the event.
During the press conference, the 12 finalists wore hand-made locally inspired clothings made by Changgih Designs, and earrings sponsored by Talee Studios.
