Stolen motorbike: Man gets 15 months

Kota Kinabalu: The Magistrate’s Court here, Monday, sentenced a man to 15 months’ jail for having a stolen motorcycle.Jainal Sabuhun pleaded guilty before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to having the stolen Honda EX5 C100B machine belonging to one Cyril Yamie at 5.30pm on June 7 at the roadside of Jalan Kg Sembulan Lama.

The court was informed by the prosecution that the complainant lodged a police report on June 7 at 3.41pm that his motorcycle parked in front of the Dreamtel hotel, Jalan Padang here was stolen.
Jainal was arrested by police later on the said day and that the stolen motorcycle was seized from him, said the prosecution.
The charge, under Section 411 of the Penal Code, carries a jail term of between six months and five years and liability of a fine on conviction.
Jainal was also ordered to be referred to Immigration Department after serving the sentence.

In another case, a woman was fined RM800 or two months’ jail for having gambling paraphernalia.
Cu Ling Yen admitted to having one piece of Wah Hui riddle and four illegal lottery tickets at 5.20pm on Nov 11, 2021 in Donggongon, Penampang.

The charge, under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act, carries a jail term of up to six months or a fine of up to RM3,000, or both, on conviction.
Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik, prosecuting, told the court that Cu was arrested for committing the offence by police, who also seized a mobile printer and RM15 cash from her.
The court ordered that the seized cash money to be forfeited by the government.
