Quarters razed and snakes captured in Kinabatangan, Beaufort

KINABATANGAN: A fire at the Kertam Sukau Estate destroyed a four-door workers’ quarters, last Sunday.Firefighters went to the location after receiving a distressed call at 11.22am, according to Kinabatangan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Nurul Azlan Shah Jamaluddin.

Nobody was hurt in the fire. Operations ended at 1.50pm after the fire was put out at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, in BEAUFORT, three snakes were captured by firefighters in separate operations.
Mohammad Hasbullah Nenggok, the head of Beaufort Fire and Rescue, said the first operation involved the capture of a 4.5m-long python that was discovered curled up inside a store at Kg Tuhu Lupak.
The python weighed about 50 kilogrammes.

The second operation involved a leaf snake caught inside an office at the SMK Beaufort 1, while the third operation involved a mangrove snake that was captured inside the kitchen of a home in Kg Pelakat Sipitang. The three snakes were all released into their natural environment.
