Cooking oil fly off supermarket shelves
Only few 500g bottles remain.
Kota Kinabalu: A random Daily Express check on supermarkets in the city revealed packets of 1kg government subsidised cooking oil being the most sought by consumers, despite their prices having been fixed effective July 1, unlike those in plastic bottles.

Some stores were devoid of any 1kg packets, leading to suspicion that they may have been snapped up by restaurants and food suppliers.

Some outlets also had only the more expensive corn and sunflower seed oil in 2 or 3kg containers costing between RM29 and RM40 left  and wondered if supplies of cheaper Murni, Labour and Knife brands made from refined oil palm were being hoarded until the removal of subsidies come into effect.
