PETALING JAYA: The president of a political party in Sabah has been arrested for allegedly heading a syndicate forging identification cards.
Home minister Hamzah Zainudin said Arshad Abdul Mualap, the president of Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah (PPRS), was arrested at his house in Subang Jaya on June 22.
ADVERTISEMENT Police also arrested Amkah Ahmad, who is alleged to be Arshad’s accomplice. It is not immediately known if Amkah is related to the party.
Both of them were charged at the Shah Alam High Court this morning under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, Hamzah said.
He added that PPRS was officially registered as a political party in 2017.
“He (Arshad) is believed to have used the party for his own interest,” the minister said at a press conference at Bukit Aman.

four types of identification cards categorised by four colours – Blue, Red, Green, and Brown.

However, he said, the immigration department in Sabah had the prerogative to issue a temporary document called IMM13, but these were not registered under the national registration department (JPN).
