Kota Kinabalu: An Upko leader likened Parti Bersatu Sabah’s (PBS) collaboration with Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties to form the State Government as “hypocritical.”
Upko Kota Belud Deputy Chief Carlye Lajimin was responding to PBS President Datuk Maximus Ongkili’s allegations that a certain BN component party bought political votes from illegal immigrants.
He said PBS’ collaboration with BN is akin to legitimising Maximus’ allegations, yet choosing not to do anything to stop it, and thus perpetuating the perennial illegals woe in Sabah.
“Maximus’ statement is like ‘shooting a friend’ but still continuing to depend on the friend and wants the friend to remain in power.
“PBS signed an agreement with BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) to form the State Government and also elevated BN to become the Prime Minister today.
“Did Maximus and the PBS make the same allegations in the Federal and State Cabinet meetings? And what drastic action did Maximus take following the allegations?
“Actually, he has known for a long time what he claims, but surprisingly, he continues to depend on and adopt the BN party.
“I describe his allegation as a soap opera after failing to address Sabah’s rights issues in the Malaysia Agreement and the Federal Constitution as the responsible Minister,” he said.
