Kota Kinabalu: Kinabalu Jaguar Football Club (KJFC) continued their impressive run in the M3 League with a 5-2 victory over Tun Razak City FC in a Group A clash at the UM Arena Stadium Petaling Jaya on Sunday evening.
Former Rhinos Leopold Alfonso Otong, who came out of retirement to join the team at the start of the season, recorded a hat-trick with his first goal in the 12th minute after receiving a pass from Zulkifli Harun and the second came in the 33rd minute after meeting a cross from Ariusdius Jais.
However, a lapse of concentration allowed the hosts to pull one back just before the first half whistle.
KJFC started the second half aggressively and Leopold netted his third in the 69th minute to restore their two-goal advantage with an assist from Arius again.
Second half substitute Mohd Jayman Mohd Jaymi then added the fourth with a solo effort before another defensive error saw KJFC concede their second of the match but Mohd Faredz Elham was able to deny any fightback from the host with the fifth two minutes from time to ensure the team returned with maximum points.
The team are now at the top of Group A with 35 points while their nearest rivals Manjung City FC have 28 points but have a game in hand.
KJFC’s next match is against Sains FC at the Likas Stadium on July 16.
Meanwhile, in the Youth Cup competition, the State Under-19 squad went down 1-2 to Sarawak United in a Group C tie at the Miri Stadium on Saturday.
