Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 caseload shot back up to 192 on Saturday after dipping to 176 cases the day earlier while one death was recorded in Penampang.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun warned that Sabah will go through an upward trend phase like other countries.
“It is highly recommended that all residents comply with all standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reduce the risk Covid-19 transmissions.
“Compliance with SOPs, especially the wearing of face masks, should be made a practice again especially while attending gatherings and other social activities,” he said in a statement, Saturday.
Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 71 cases, followed by Penampang (21), Putatan (20), Papar (19) and Sandakan (17).
“More districts have recorded an increase in cases with some districts registering a sharp difference.
“Putatan which did not record new infections the day earlier shot up with 20 cases on Saturday while Papar’s cases shot up from nine to 19,” he said.
Only 10 districts did not record any new infections compared to 12 the day earlier. A total of 11 districts recorded single-digit cases.
Masidi said 190 out of 192 cases were category one and two infections, with one case each recorded in category four and five. 75 per cent were sporadic.
No new clusters were identified.
