Kota Kinabalu: Sabah hit a new high of 208 cases Sunday from 192 cases the day earlier with Kota Kinabalu contributing to half the caseload.Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said Kota Kinabalu’s 104 cases were a 46 per cent increase from 71 cases on Saturday, of which 85 per cent were sporadic infections.
“Five other districts recorded double-digit figures, namely Penampang (30), Sandakan (23), Lahad Datu (12), Papar (11) and Tuaran (10),” he said in a statement, Sunday.
He said the number of districts that did not record new infections increased from 10 to 13, including eight districts that previously registered new cases.
“However, five districts that previously did not record any new cases the day before registered new cases on Sunday, including Lahad Datu with 12 cases,” he added.
Masidi said 206 out of 208 cases were category one and two infections, while two were registered in category four. 82 per cent were sporadic infections.
In light of the Aidiladha festivities, Masidi urged the public to abide by the standard operating procedures (SOP), especially the use of face mask in gatherings or crowded places.
