SOME 10,000 people are expected to attend the three-day National Youth Day (HBN) celebration in Tuaran from July 15-17.
Special Officer to the Chief Minister Mazlan Johari Manan said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is scheduled to launch the event at the Tuaran Town Field on July 16.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is also expected to attend the launching ceremony.
Themed “Ini Masa Kita” (This is Our Time), this year’s celebration is co-chaired by the federal Youth and Sports Ministry and the State Youth and Sports Ministry.
The celebration, he said, will also involve main strategic partners Malaysian Youth Council and Sabah Youth Council.
Mazlan further said the celebration has set four objectives to be achieved.
“Firstly, we want to honour and recognise the contributions by youths to the nation’s development,” he said during a “Kupi-Kupi” event with media practitioners in Kota Kinabalu on July 7.
“Secondly, we want to generate more awareness among youths that they are still being given attention by the Government during the pandemic and the current situation. Thirdly, we want to enhance patriotism among youths so that they will consistently contribute to the community and country’s development. Lastly, the celebration will provide a strategic platform for stakeholders to contribute towards youth development,” he said.
Among the activities outlined for the celebration are the HBN Charity Run, youth-to-youth booths, Patriotic Race, Malaysian Family Youth Expo, Youth Career Carnival and a concert.
The public, especially youths, are invited to join the celebration. Also present at the event was Sabah Federal Youth and Sports Department Director Apui Jan.
