Ranau folks unhappy over never-ending water woes
Murky water coming out from taps.
RANAU: Residents of Kg Marakau and the surrounding area want the authorities to take immediate action to solve the water problem in the area.

According to a resident who only wants to be known as Cleo, the tap water supply would be cut off for several days every time it rains.

“Even if there was water, it was foggy and muddy. I am very disappointed with the Ranau Water Department’s inefficient service in providing clean water supply to the residents here,” he said.

Cleo claimed many residents voiced the problem through social media where children as well as adults suffered stomachache after using water from the tap for cooking.

“This situation has dragged on for decades with no real solution, except for short-term solutions that do not guarantee a continuous and consistent supply of clean water,” he said.

He added that the water problem in the area had occurred for the past two weeks.

“Now there is water and it is not so foggy but not completely clear either”.

“The problem of fog water from the pipes was not the first, second or third incident but has been going on for many years,” he claimed.

“Government housing areas such as the police barracks also have many complaints about water, while the location of the barracks is less than one kilometer from the water treatment plant,” he said.

Towards that end, he hopes that factual solutions would be taken by leaders here as well as the relevant authorities to solve the issue .

Otherwise, he said, the problem would continue to repeat itself for the next 100 years or more, before this impossible problem is fixed.
