You’re free to go, don’t become enemies within, says Wan Azizah
PKR adviser Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has urged party members to shed their differences to face the ‘challenging’ upcoming general election.
SHAH ALAM: PKR adviser Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has told party members who feel they are no longer in line with the party’s struggles to leave instead of becoming enemies within.

She told those who were disappointed after losing in the recent party elections not to attack and destroy PKR, and make enemies of one another.

Wan Azizah said members had remained loyal to the party after the “Sheraton Move”, when former deputy president Azmin Ali left along with 10 other MPs, causing the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government to fall after a 22-month stint in Putrajaya.

“We are all part of a family. The elections are over. It is now time for us to regain our strength and remain consistent in our original struggle,” she said at the national PKR women’s congress, being held at the Ideal Convention Centre here, today.

“We are not enemies, we are in the same party. If you want to leave, then go but don’t be enemies within the party. Don’t destroy what we have built together.”

Wan Azizah said the party had faced its fair share of turmoil and division in the past, but stressed the importance of getting it ready to face the “challenging” 15th general election (GE15) ahead.

“We have recently gone through the party elections, which have tested our unity.

“In any contest, there will be winners and there will be losers. That’s normal. But we have to remind ourselves of our etiquette as friends and as competitors.

“I want us to remain strong and continue to work together in building unity not only at the central level, but also in the divisions, despite the fact that we are facing a political hurricane and a leadership crisis in the country.”
