Woman, 62, killed in Kota Belud collision

KOTA BELUD: A 62-year-old woman was killed in an accident involving three vehicles – a Proton Satria, Proton Saga and a Nissan Grand Livina - along Jalan Ranau Bypass near Kg Labuan, here, Sunday.

 Obihian Magawai, was pronounced dead at the scene following the 3.30am mishap.

 Preliminary findings according to Kota Belud District Police Chief Supt Shahrudin Mat Husain indicated that the Proton Satria being driven by a 27-year-old man was travelling from Kg Taun Gusi in the direction of Kota Belud Town.
When the Proton Satria rear-ended the Proton Saga, the 33-year-old driver of that vehicle lost control, swerving in to the opposite lane and slamming into the Nissan.

The elderly woman, who was seated in the Proton Saga’ back seat, was injured by the impact and was declared dead at the site by paramedics. The three car drivers were also hurt and sent to the Kota Belud hospital for treatment. In this regard, the police urged motorists to always abide by the rules of the road and maintain the safety of their cars.
