Kota Kinabalu: The State Government should seriously consider establishing a Sabah Food Security programme in light of the current global food crisis which is also affecting the country, including Sabah.Nabawan Assemblyman Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohamed Yassin said the programme would enable Sabah to prepare early for a sufficient and continuous supply of food products for the people.
Citing a report released by the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) in early July, he said the number of world population facing famine increased to 828 million this year, an increase of 46 million over the previous year.
