Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s new daily Covid-19 infections soared to 279 cases on Wednesday, up 45 from Tuesday’s 234.
Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said almost all districts recorded new cases.
“Only four districts are clean of new infections today,” he said in a statement, Wednesday.
Of the 23 districts that recorded infections, seven registered double-digit cases while 16 single-digit cases.
On Wednesday, the Tongod “green zone” district once more reported new infections, leaving just Kalabakan as Sabah’s sole “green” district.
A total of 14 districts recorded an increase in new cases compared to only seven which recorded a decrease.
Putatan recorded the biggest increase with 24 cases (+20), followed by Tuaran with 28 cases (+17), Sandakan 30 cases (+11), Penampang 29 cases (+10) and Papar 17 cases (+6).
Only two districts recorded a significant decrease, namely Kota Kinabalu 87 cases (-25) and Tawau 6 cases (-5).
A total of 276 of the 279 cases recorded on Wednesday were in Category One and Category Two, and one case each in Category Three, Category Four and Category Five.
