39,000 attend National Youth Day joy in Tuaran

Kota Kinabalu: A total of 39,000 people attended the recent three-day National Youth Day Celebration held in Tuaran, near here, from July 15.

Sabah Youth Council (MBS) President Abqaree Fawwaz Abekan said this showed the extraordinary and encouraging response among the local residents and youths to attend the historic event.

He said at the same time it also signalled that the young leadership is ready to take steps in all aspects, both economic, development and socio.

“A total of 39,000 visitors were recorded for the entire celebration period, showing the youths always respond to the spirit of the National Youth Day whether in urban or rural areas. The participation and presence of youths from the rural areas clearly shows MBS’ concern for this group is undeniable.

“MBS is very committed to developing youths throughout Sabah regardless of their background,” he said in a statement Friday.

For the record, Sabah hosted the National Youth Day celebration at Padang Pekan Tuaran, Tuaran from July 15 to 17.

It was officiated by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and also attended by Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Federal Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu and Sabah Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk Ellron Angin , as well as other leaders.

Abqaree also expressed MBS’ appreciation to all those involved in making the National Youth Day in Tuaran a success.

“Millions of thanks to the Sabah State Government for always giving support and encouragement to us youths to continue to be enthusiastic in making the National Youth Day celebration in Sabah a success. The celebration is one of the great appreciation to us youths in Sabah.

“MBS is responding to the recommendations of the Sabah State Government through the Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry in prospering human capital in line with the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) plan.

“There are no words to express my gratitude to the government agencies, district offices, district councils, NGOs, GLCs and all those involved directly or indirectly, your cooperation is greatly appreciated,” he said.
