NGO: Wants
action on
Tajuddin
KOTA KINABALU: The Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia (Sirom) has demanded that Pasir Salak MP Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman be given the proper judgement and discipline for his inappropriate and disrespectful actions.
Sirom President Michele Kaur said: “We call on the Speaker to make the appropriate ruling and fitting disciplinary action on Tajuddin.”
“We condemn Tajuddin’s outrageous and disrespectful behaviour while Parliament was debating the Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill 2022.
“We stand in solidarity with all MPs, civil society groups and women’s rights advocates to call on the Speaker and Deputy Speaker to take strict, disciplinary action against him,” she said.
She said Tajuddin’s behaviour and the profanity he uttered is deplorable and reflects the complete lack of regard for the Dewan Rakyat and other MPs.
“To allow Tajuddin’s deplorable behaviour and words to be disregarded and/or dismissed with a mere warning sends a strong and clear message to all Malaysians that this is acceptable and we can do the same and there shall be no consequences. We cannot allow this to happen.
“Notwithstanding the Speaker’s “promise to get to the bottom of Tajuddin’s tirade”, the profanity should not have been uttered. The Speaker must uphold the dignity of the Dewan and maintain decorum,” she said.
