Kota Kinabalu: Yayasan Sabah is committed to further increase awareness in making work safety a culture among its employees.

Its Director, Dato’ Sri Gulamhaidar Khan Bahadar said in line with this effort, Yayasan Sabah Group (YSG) has carried out workplace inspections, occupational health and safety audits, handled reports of hazard cases, ensured that all Covid-19 procedures are followed and has formed its own sanitation team to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Since the YSG sanitation team was formed in August last year, he said the team has carried out 137 sanitation and disinfection works in offices at Menara Tun Mustapha and Wisma Innoprise.

He added that this sanitisation requirement is important to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection among the YSG employees.

“This year, the YSG also hold the Occupational Safety and Health Week as a commitment to further increase awareness in making work safety a culture among its employees,” he said while officiating the YSG’s Occupational Safety and Health Week for 2022 at Tun Hamdan Theatre, Tun Mustapha Tower, here, Thursday.

Ghulamhaidar, who is also the Executive Chairman of Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd (ICSB), said this year’s theme which is “Living with Covid-19 - Step Forward” is very apt considering that the country is already in an endemic phase.

“In connection with this, I would like to remind all YSG staff that the Covid-19 virus problem will likely never end and we must accept the fact that we will live with this virus.

“Thus, the knowledge we have gained in the last two years about how to protect ourselves from Covid-19 virus needs to be continued and practised so that we and our families, especially those at high risk and others are spared from this dangerous virus.

“Therefore, the responsibility of taking care of health should start from ourselves and then our families by ensuring that preventive measures are always practised such as wearing a face mask, washing hands frequently, doing self-test if you have symptoms, cleaning yourself first after returning from the office or from anywhere before getting close to children, parents, wife or husband.

“These will help reduce the risk of infection, especially with the emergence of various new variants that are more dangerous,” he said.

He also requested all YSG department heads and subsidiary companies to monitor and advise staff under their respective care to always practise measures to protect themselves from the Covid-19 infection in order to ensure a safe office environment for all staff who came to work.
