Sipitang’s Tanjong Pagar bridge unsafe for use
The broken wooden bridge.
SIPITANG: Residents of Tanjung Pagar near here urged the government to take immediate steps to repair the wooden bridge path (jambatan titi) or build a new one which is in such a bad shape that it is no longer safe to use.

A resident, Ahmad Fadhilah expressed this hope when he briefed government officials who visited the area recently.

The officials were led by Sindumin Community Development Leader (PPM), Sani Miasin.

Ahmad told the officials that the bridge has become too dangerous to use especially at night when it is dark or when sick people or pregnant women about to give birth had to be brought to the hospital.

“Besides, the bridge is also being used by our school children day in and day out.

“What if they fall into the water?” he asked.
