Cases dip to 267, but positivity rate is up
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-18 caseload dipped to 267 on Saturday after an all-time high of 315 the day earlier. However, a higher positivity rate was recorded despite the lower number of test samples, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

“The significant dip in cases is attributed to a lower number of test samples. There were 3,003 samples the day before but only 2,522 on Saturday. The positivity rate, which is 11.92 per cent, was higher compared to the day before (11.16pc).

“If the number of test samples on Saturday was the same as the day earlier, the number of infections would be higher,” he said in a statement, Saturday.
Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 71 cases, followed by Sandakan (28), Penampang (25), Tawau (25), Papar (20), Putatan (20), Tuaran (14) and Lahad Datu (11).

“On average, 82.4 per cent of all new cases in Sabah are sporadic infections,” Masidi explained. He said 259 out of 267 cases were category one and two infections, while seven were in category three and one in category four. No deaths or new clusters were identified.
