TAWAU: The security guard of SK Balung has made a report refuting the “kidnapping” of a pupil last Monday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin reminded the public not to easily believe information on social media and to check its validity before making any conclusion.

According to Jasmin, police received various inquiries related to the viral issue of an attempted kidnapping of a pre-school student at SK Balung, here, on Aug 1.

“The police took a proactive step by holding a meeting with the school, parents and the pupil concerned to find out the truth,” he said in a statement, Saturday.

Earlier, the viral message stated that the alleged incident took place on Aug 1 evening (time not specified) and that the kidnapper’s target was a pre-school pupil.
