KENINGAU: Assistant Minister of Works, Datuk Robert Tawik and several government agencies and concession companies visited Kampung Kumawanan and the Bayoyo stalls which were always experiencing water overflow to their premises.
The visit on Monday was in response to complaints from the people regarding the tributary drainage problems and drains that overflow into the premises and residences of villagers.
Through discussions between the government agencies and concession companies, they concluded that the best solution would is to slightly change the drainage structure so that the overflow can be reduced.
The Public Works Department (PWD) is also conducting a study on the proposed construction of drainage system in problematic areas.
Robert, who is also Bingkor Assemblyman, hopes that through the visit, the problem could be solved.
During the visit, Robert also met with the owners of the premises at the Bayayo stalls and explained the real situation of the problematic drainage in the area.
Among those present were Drainage and Irrigation Department Engineer (DID), Ir Dachord Moujing, Assistant District Officer, Esther Sutili, officials from the PWD Divisional Engineer, Assistant Collector Land Revenue (ACLR), LRSB Concession, Globinaco Concession, Bingkor Community Development Leader Unit (UPPM) and the Keningau Parliament People’s Service Centre.
