No brokers needed for Sabah’s carbon deals: Sam
Sam (third left) with the committee members (from left) Dr Robecca, Cynthia, Fuad, Dr John and Darrel.
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah has to regulate its carbon market and it will be very stupid (of us) if Sabah’s carbon assets must go through third party dealings with somebody who has nothing to do with this place (Sabah).

“We want it to be a regulated market, by Sabah,” said Datuk Sam Mannan.

Sam, the only person to helm Sabah’s forestry thrice –  first as Forestry Director, then as renamed Chief Conservator of Forests  and now as Technical Advisor (Forestry) to the Chief Minister – also clarified that the Service Agreement signed between Permian Malaysia Sdn Bhd and the State Government and Rakyat Berjaya Sdn Bhd on Aug. 6, 2021 has nothing to do with a controversial carbon agreement now dragged before the court.
