Kota Kinabalu: The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) said there is need for a truly independent MACC that can act according to the law without fear or favour.Bersih Chairman Thomas Fan also called for the Attorney General’s discretionary prosecution power to be separated and be vested in the office of the public prosecutor who would be empowered to act fairly based on the facts of the case.
“Reform the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Separate the Attorney-General’s role and power from that of the Public Prosecutor,” Fan said, at Bersih’s “Ketuanan Pengundi” roadshow at the Golden Hotel at Sembulan.
