SANDAKAN: A chicken slaughter house here was ordered closed after a check by the Sandakan Area Health Office in an integrated operation with the Inspectorate and Legal Unit and the Food Safety and Quality Division.The 14-day closure order was made after the premises failed to ensure the cleanliness of its environment and free of animals that can bring disease such as rats.
“Rat’s faeces were found at the premises. So were active larvae. Even dead rats were found,” a spokesman of the raiding team said.
Another slaughter house and chicken processing plant was compounded for failing to comply with regulations of the Food Act.
