SANDAKAN: A Sandakan-area elderly woman tried to escape a home fire but the blaze was too overpowering before she, her son and daughter-in-law perished in Friday night's mishap.
The fire department said they received an alert at 10.35pm in the mishap that occurred at Taman Rajawali.
The three were found burnt in the living room downstairs in their double-storey home.
A neighbour told the Daily Express they saw the mother, in her 90s, struggling to escape and tried to rescue her but the fire was overwhelming.
