1,329 Kota Marudu folks receive BKM cash aid

KOTA MARUDU: A total of 1,329 people here who do not own bank accounts received a shot in the arm under the Malaysian Family Assistance (BKM) programme, Saturday.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said the programme was part of the Government’s effort to lighten the burden of lower income families.

“The Government, both the federal and the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led State Government, listens to the people, especially on the demands and grouses.

“The last two years have been very challenging as everyone was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Government is very concerned with the rakyat’s wellbeing and as such, numerous aid packages were introduced to lighten the people’s burden, in line with the Malaysian Family concept introduced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“The BKM is one of the latest assistance programmes, which reflects that the Government never stops giving aid to those in need. Indeed, the Government is concerned and cares for the wellbeing of the people,” said Ongkili.

The Kota Marudu Member of Parliament, therefore, called on the people in Kota Marudu to continue supporting the federal and GRS governments through the Member of Parliament and three state assemblymen - Datuk Julita Majungki (Matunggong), Datuk Wetrom Bahanda (Bandau) and Hendrus Anding (Tandek), so continuous assistance can be channelled to those in need.
