Jeffrey to suggest mechanism to bring natives into mainstream economy

PENAMPANG: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan said he will suggest to the State Cabinet a mechanism to bring Sabahan natives into the mainstream economy. 

“I agree that we should have a mechanism to discuss the economic and development affairs of the native population.

“What we have right now is the State Native Affairs Department but this department only focuses on adat (customary rights), not on the economy.”

Jeffrey was speaking at a press conference after he officiated the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2022 for Sabah here.
