Jailed, fined for causing grievous hurt
Romio had caused grievous hurt to a man named Said Shah using a 76cm machete.
SANDAKAN: A Filipino was jailed five years and fined RM1,000 or another month’s jail by the Sessions Court for causing grievous hurt to a man.Judge Darmafikri Abu Adam meted out the sentence to Romio Sahiril, 46, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term up to 20 years, a fine or whipping on conviction.

Based on the case facts, Romio committed the offence at the workers’ quarters of Sakilan Desa Estate, around 5pm, on May 8, 2022.  Romio had caused grievous hurt to a man named Said Shah using a 76cm machete.

He was also ordered by the court to be referred to the Immigration Department for deportation after serving his sentence.
