Kota Kinabalu: Papar-based Tambuakar Club are proud of their young athletes’ achievement at the recent World Muaythai Grand Slam and Youth World Championship held in Kuala Lumpur at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre.
Eight of their members representing the State returned home with one gold, one silver and four bronzes.
The gold medal was won by Jezzevelle Myora Jerry from SMK St Joseph in the World Grand Slam Championships, while silver was won by SK Pekan Papar’s Evan Arron Warren in the Youth Championship.
The bronze medals were delivered by SMK Majakir’s Ethan Adam Azry and Ashley Chow Kar Kit, Deirdra Jacquelina Richard from SMK St Joseph in the Youth Championship with the other bronze was from SMK St Joseph’s Chester Archie Arthur in the World Grand Slam Championship.
Head coach Rozaimy Ahad said on Thursday that the athletes’ performance was a clear indication that they have the potential to be at the world stage.
“We are very proud of their achievement and they have the potential to be at the world stage.
“We will continue to work hard and develop more high calibre athletes and we also hope more support will be available to assist these athletes so that they can get the exposure to compete at the international arena.”
