Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin joined more than 1,000 Muslims in praying for the wellbeing of Malaysia and Sabah in conjunction with the 2022 National Day.
Juhar was received on arrival by Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun and Special Functions Minister Datuk Arifin Arif.
Masidi, who is also Finance Minister II, is the Chairman of the State-level National Day Celebration Main Committee, while Arifin is the Minister in-charge of Islamic affairs. The prayers began with the recitation of Surah Yasin led by the Imam Besar of the State Mosque, Suhaidi Kuanting, while the Doa Selamat was recited by State Mufti Datuk Bungsu @ Aziz Jaafar.
Bungsu also recited the Friday sermon while Suhaidi led the Friday prayers.
Present at the Nurul Hikmah Mosque, Bukit Padang were Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Yakub Khan and Department of Islamic Affairs Director Datuk Saifulzaman Sangul.
