Kota Kinabalu: Five traders were charged in the Magistrate’s Court Friday with committing affray and mischief causing RM35,000 loss to a bar here.
Mohd Nizman Mohd Yunnus, 30, Mohd Nojib Mohd Yunnus, 37, Ling King Kuok, 34, Lee Zhao Kiong, 23 and Lee Zhao Hui, 24, pleaded not guilty before magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles to being involved in a fight at the 69 Bar Sutera Avenue at 12.55am on Aug 22. The charge is framed under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
The five accused on the second count also claimed trial for causing damages to the properties of the outlet namely the marble table, drinking glasses and ashtray on the same time and day.
They were charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code. Inspector Kelvan Elson Maik, prosecuting, proposed bail at RM4,000 on each charge.
All accused requested a lower bail amount.
The court fixed Sept 27 for case management and released the accused on RM2,000 bail with two local sureties each.
Nizman and Nojib were represented by counsel while the other three were unrepresented.
In another case, an unemployed man was charged with theft.
Md Asrizal Aiman, 21, pleaded not guilty to stealing a pair of sports shoes at 1.30am on Aug 22 at a house in Kg Likas.
He was charged under Section 379 of the Penal Code.
Lovely set Sept 22 for case management and offered Asrizal bail at RM1,500 in two sureties.
